Preparing the next generation of talent for the jobs of tomorrow
Connecting diverse, talented young people across London - to local employers and their opportunities
NextGen London is a collaboration between local schools, colleges, employers and community partners. We are working together to provide London's young people (with a particular focus in Southwark) with the skills and experience they need to thrive.
NextGen London offers a 'managed service' that makes it easy for employers to offer work experience, mentoring and other career development opportunities to local London students.
In order to ensure we reach as many young Londoners as possible we offer the programme for FREE to schools/colleges and employers - however the more students we support, the more funding we need.
If you'd like to pay it forward and help fund the programme then get in touch.

Who do we collaborate with?
"Providing our young people with access to role models, career advice and development opportunities from employers can make a dramatic difference to their future employment prospects. We are committed to working with employers to ensure they also benefit from connecting with the amazing talent that Southwark has to offer."
“Transitioning into an ever-changing jobs market is one of the big challenges of our time; especially for young people.
We can, and must do more to bridge the gap between education and employment - if our young people are to be ready for the jobs of the future.”
"As a leading developer and operator of student accommodation, Greystar is invested in the communities our buildings belong to. It makes good business sense for us to invest in these communities for our residents’ wellbeing, as well as the area as a whole.
We are delighted to be supporting the development of NextGen Southwark and the impact it will deliver."

Can anyone take part?Your school, college or university needs to be registered with us in order to take part. If you're not sure where your registered, we are more than happy to have a chat with a careers lead to share more information.
Can I choose where I want to do work experience? We are working with a growing number of local employers that are committed to supporting young people and offer a broad range of opportunities across various sectors. We'll try to match you based on interests and preferences, with the sectors you're interested in, rather than specific employers.
Will I get paid?We encourage our employers to cover travel and lunch costs where possible for work experience placements, but these are otherwise unpaid.
We have never done a work experience or mentoring programme, does that matter? Not at all! We work in collaboration with our employers to help create exciting work experience opportunities for London students. We'll support you by hosting introductory sessions, sharing templates and resources, shaping ideas for programmes and connecting you to local education providers.
How much does it cost? Our services are currently free. The first phase of NextGen has been funded by Greystar, a Southwark-based property developer. This covers a large number of outcomes from the programme. However, the more students we support, the more funding we need - if you'd like to pay it forward and help fund the programme then get in touch. We also strongly encourage employers to cover travel and lunch costs where possible for work experience placements to increase accessibility for the students.
How does this fit with my existing processes/safeguarding requirements? We're already working with schools and colleges which have strict safeguarding, data protection and health and safety requirements. We can work with you to understand your needs, and ensure a process that makes it easy for you and employers to participate.
How much does it cost? The first phase of NextGen has been funded by Greystar, a Southwark-based property developer, so is entirely free to schools, colleges and intermediaries. This covers a large number of outcomes from the programme; after which the service may involve a small partnership fee.
What do I need to get involved? If you are based in Southwark or any other London borough, then you qualify. We will then look to understand your requirements in terms of number of students, and go from there.
